What I will fight for

As an independent I can freely advocate for our needs without political interference. The main issues are health, transport, jobs, infrastructure and schools. My pledge is to be a member for the community. The west has been neglected for decades by both sides of politics.

Currently, Werribee Mercy is struggling to service 40% of Wyndham’s needs. Werribee Mercy urgently needs expanding, to include services related to cancer, mental health, cardiology and plastic surgery.

Paediatric services should be significantly increased to assist all the young families. There is plenty of land available at the East Werribee precinct for expansion.

Health is also improved by exercise and the proposal to build an aquatic centre in Altona Meadows by Hobson’s Bay Council should be supported by the State Government.

This centre could easily be accessed by residents of Laverton, Seabrook and Point Cook. Point Cook Football and Cricket clubs are the perfect site for an upstairs function centre to support the needs of our multicultural area.

Public schools should just be built as required. They are an essential service. The needed schools are all listed on https://schools4wyndham.org.au/

There is a shortage of private schools in Point Cook with many schoolkids travelling out of the suburb. The State could allocate some land along Hacketts Rd or elsewhere in the East Werribee precinct for a private provider to provide another choice for the many families in the area.

East Werribee of course needs to be activated to provide jobs for the local community. Over 60% of residents leave Wyndham for work every day. This would take cars off the road. In the interim we need more frequent trains and a better bus service https://msd.unimelb.edu.au/news/world-leading-bus-network-possible-for-melbourne.

Energy prices are increasing. Government need to investigate the feasibility of more community batteries and schemes to allow renters to access solar power.
